Gamila Secret Precious Pomegranate Cleansing Bar

Gamila Secret Precious Pomegranate Cleansing Bar – 115g (£22.00)

If you’re struggling with your skin at the moment, having issues with spots, concerned with signs of ageing or just want to create and maintain balanced healthy looking skin, then surely cleansing has to be the place to start with your routine.

This is the latest release from the Gamila Secret range of cleansing bars.  This one has added pomegranate seed oil.  It takes a lot to justify the high price point for what most people would regard to be a just bar of soap. Yet there are lots of us that are happy to part with £30 for a high quality moisturiser or serum. The difference with this product are the ingredients that go into the making of it. They are all of a consistently high quality, 100% natural and designed to be used to cleanse both the face and body.

IMG_1853

Gamila Secret already have a range of eleven cleansing bars, each containing a slightly different mix of natural ingredients. This bar called ‘precious pomegranate’ contains virgin (first pressing) cold pressed (no heat involved in the extraction maintaining the properties of the ingredients) pomegranate seed oil. This oil alone is known to be rich in nutrients and powerful anti oxidants including polyphenol. The oil contains ellagic acid, a potent natural antioxidant that effectively fights free radicals making it ideal for anti-aging.  It’s also high in lipids including pucinic acid, which help heal inflammation and reduce swelling.

Many products make big claims on their packaging about their ingredients, but in practice only use very little of it, or use a synthetic version of it. In this case the pomegranate seed oil is the fifth biggest ingredient in the bar and is 100% natural.

The cold pressed virgin olive oil base is combined with a range of skin benefitting herbs, oils and extracts including Wheat Germ oil, Shea Butter, Grape Seed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Lavender Oil, Nettle, Rosemary, Camomile flower, Verbena, Sage and Pistachio extract.

The cleansing bar has no added colourings or perfumes, so its fragrance is completely natural and not overly fruity or floral. When added with warm water, a creamy emulsion is created, which you can use to wash the entire body. Unlike soap, this cleansing bar can be used on the face, removing grease and grime and leaving the skin feeling clean and comfortable without drying. If you suffer from spots on the chest, shoulders or back, this cleansing bar makes an ideal body wash as the gentle, yet powerful ingredients will with regular use, balance and maintain the skins equilibrium.

Men will especially love using the Gamila Secret cleaning bars as they can wash the face, body (including beards) and even shave with it, without leaving the skin feeling dry, irritated or smelling synthetically fragranced.  Knowing and understanding the properties of its skin benefitting ingredients also makes you feel good about using it. Fully Del Brown Approved!

Gamila Secret Rose Face Oil

Gamila Secret Rose Face Oil – 50ml (£70.00)

With my face going through a seasonal adjustment during September and October.  Summer over, broken capillaries ablaze thanks to fading sun tans and pale and pasty dry skin returning, this was an ideal opportunity to try out the Rose Face Oil from Gamila Secret.

Already a big fan of the range and having tried and reviewed the Original Face Oil from Gamila, I was excited to try this Rose version. Rose Essential Oil, in this case distilled from the Rose Damascus (Damask) plant, is renowned for it’s therapeutic properties. Rose oil contains more than 300 known compounds and is used as an antidepressant, antiphlogistic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral and even as an aphrodisiac.

The biggest ingredients in this face oil is Grape Seed oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Lavender Oil and Black Cumin Seed Oil. Then we find Olive Oil, Avocado Oil, Elecampane, a herb better known as Horse-heal. Bay leaf oil, Pistachio nut oil and Rose Damascena Oil.

A lot of face oils use olive and or nut oil as their base, then mix in a few other ingredients. The difference here is we find a large mix of several different types of skin benefitting oils and in larger quantities.

For your skin it soothes, moisturizes and hydrates and is good for all skin types, young or old, dry to oily.  “Wait a second, Oil on oil?  He must be mad!”  Friends, don’t just take my word for it, do your own research.  It is also used to calm broken capillaries, inflammation and skin redness.

All of the vegetable oils used are first pressed meaning they are the first extraction, and cold pressed so doesn’t used any heat in the extraction process, which can effect the properties of the oil.  Being an oil, the liquid absorbs quickly and deeply into the skin and the active ingredients stay potent for longer compared to that found in creams.

Apply a few drops of this heady rose scented oil onto clean skin to leave it looking moisturised and hydrated.  Use at night time allowing the ingredients to penetrate and wake to smoother, calmer skin.  Can be used instead of, or in addition to a moisturiser cream.  Less is most definitely more!  A little goes a long way, one pump dispenses more than enough for the entire face.  Fully Del Brown Approved!

Ingredients: Vitis Vinifera [Grape] Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis [Sweet Almond] Oil, Simmondsia Chinesis [Jojoba] Seed Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia [Lavender] Oil, Nigella Sativa [Black Cumin] Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Olea Europaea [Olive] Fruit Oil, Persea Gratissima [Avocado] Oil, Unsaponifiables, Inula Helenium Extract, Laurus Nobilis [Bay] Leaf Oil, Pistacia Vera Seed Oil, Rosa Damascena [Rose] Oil, Fragrance.

Gamila Secret Daily Herbal Skincare for your hands – 50ml (£18.00)

Having already reviewed the original Gamila Secret Cleansing Bar, I was very interested to try out the other products within the range.  This time the Gamila Secret Hand Cream.

The ingredients are 100% natural, using Sweet Almond Oil, Shea Butter and olive oil as the base, then we see Avocado oil, Sweet Orange, Sea Buckthorn oil and Aloe Vera.  Towards the end of the ingredients list we find some interesting plant extracts including Inula Helenium which is more commonly known as ‘horse-heal’.  Pistachio Oil, Fennel Flower and finally lavender oil.

These ingredients combine to create a bright yellow cream, which is easily absorbed and keeps the hands feeling moisturised without stickiness.   It has a mild orange zesty fragrance that isn’t over powering.

Ingredients: Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Butyrospermum Pqarkii [Shea Butter], Cera Alba, Cetyl Alcohol, Olea Europaea [Olive] Fruit Oil, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Persea Gratissima [Avocado] Oil Unsaponifiables, Benzyl Alcohol, Salicylic Acid, Glycerin, Sorbic Acid, Xantham Gum, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis [Sweet Orange] Seed Oil, Panthenol, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Oil, Aloe Barbadensis [Aloe Vera] Leaf Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Phytate, Inula Helenium Extract, Laurus Nobilis Oil, Pistacia Vera Seed Oil, Nigella Sativa Seed Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia [Lavender Oil]

Gamila Secret Original Cleansing Bar

Gamila Secret Original Cleansing Bar – 115g (£16.00)

If you’d describe yourself as having hypersensitive skin, then this cleansing bar may be just the thing for you! It is described as a ‘cleansing bar’, rather than a ‘soap’, as it can be used to cleanse the entire body (yes including your more intimate areas ladies, it even says as much on the box), yet gentle enough to also use on the face.

71QHMhPdTGL._SL1500_

It contains a first class list of ingredients made exclusively of essential oils and herbs.  The ‘Original’ cleansing bar is both 100% natural and hand made.  It contains a combination of pure vegetable oils (only one cold press) – extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, grape seed oil, sweet almond oil, laurel oil, lavender oil, coconut oil and Shea butter, plus a combination of 15 different types of healing herbs hand picked in the mountains of Galilee.

IMG_4867

The result is a product which doesn’t have any fragrance and gently lathers up. The basic combination of all the cleansing bars is the same as in the ‘Original’, but for the needs of different types of skin, the different varieties are created by adding some more plants/herbs or essential oils. There are no artificial perfumes added and all the essential oils are used in very carefully measured quantities, so that they would not irritate the skin.

IMG_4870

If you’re a man in the market for a new shaving soap, then this has to be one of the most luxurious, high end (and most expensive) I’ve ever used.  If sensitive skin is not your concern then I’d recommend trying one of the ten naturally scented cleansing bars within the range.

To sum up, if price is not an issue, you’re a true ingredient purist and you only the cleanest products will do for your skin, you’ll love this range!

Ingredients: Olea Europea [Olive] Fruit Oil, Laurus Nobilis Leaf Oil, Cocos Nucifera [Coconut] Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii [Shea] Butter, Vitis Vinifera [Grape] Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis [Sweet Almond] Oil, Lavendula Angustifolia [Lavender] Oil, Utrica Dioica [Nettle] Extract, Rosemarinus Officinalis [Rosemary] Extract, Anthemis Nobilis [Chamomile] Flower Extract, Verbena Officinalis [Vervain] Extract, Ruta Graveolens [Rue] Extract, Salvia Officinalis [Sage] Extract, Pistacia Vera [Pistachio] Extract
