Revitalising lifting eye cream from A’kin by Purist

A’kin by Purist Revitalising Lifting Eye Creme – 15ml (£24.00)

Let me start this review by saying a friend of mine who I’d not seen in a while commented, “You look rested‘.  Now he wasn’t to know I had not been getting my usual 10 hours sleep lately, but the only thing I had been doing different, was to be trialling this lifting eye cream from Australian born A’kin.

This eye cream is easily dispensed through the squeezy tube.  Apply a small amount, about the size of a grain of rice, onto your finger and gently pat the cream into the skin under the eye, the eye lids and around the orbital bone.  Try to avoid rubbing or dragging the skin.  Less is more when it comes to eye creams, as you don’t want to over load the skin with product.   Repeat this routine every night and see the results for yourself.  Within a few minutes of applying you can see the wrinkles around the eye look less defined, more ‘plumped up’ and hydrated.

The base of this eye cream is water, plant based glycerine and shea butter.  Half way down the ingredients list we find Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid.  Other key oils and Australian native botanicals include Jojoba seed oil, Rosa Canina, better known as Dog Rose, which is high in vitamin C.  Rapidly absorbing Avocado OilMyrciaria Dubia Fruit Juice, which is extraordinarily high in vitamin C and Balsam Copaiba Resin, extracted from the bark of a South American native tree and used medicinally since the 16th century.   Echium Plantagineum Seed Oil which is naturally high in three fatty acids.  Olive oil and finally Rosemary leaf extract.

There are no added perfumes to this formulation, nor colourings and the mix of naturally derived ingredients creates a faintly, mild botanical aroma with a natural white/cream colour.  The 15ml in this tube, if used correctly, is going to last you ages.  Suitable for both men and women, of an age that notice dreaded lines appearing but not disappearing around the eyes.  Gentle, natural ingredients, easy to use and visible results, what more could we want in an eye cream.  Fully Del Brown Approved!

Beyond Organic Skincare Firming Eye Cream – 15ml (£18.00)

Eye creams often promise the world.  They will sort out your dark eyes, erase lines, reduce puffiness and generally turn back time.  One of my biggest concerns is that the eye area is extremely delicate and sensitive.  The skin around the eye is very thin.  I don’t like the idea of chemical ingredients going anywhere near my eye balls.

This is my first review for both an eye product and from the Beyond Organic Skincare range.  My first comment on this tiny little pot is, don’t be put off by its size!  This 15ml pump is going to last you AGES!  It is highly concentrated and you really do only need a small amount.

I was first drawn towards trying this product thanks to the ingredients list. The biggest ingredient in the pot is Rose flower water, followed by Sunflower oil, Macadamia seed oil, Rosehip oil and Shea Butter.  Almost all of the ingredients in the pot are certified organic and there are some great plant extracts including Rosemary, Wheatgerm, Eyebright and Willow.

Del Brown Application Tip; pump out a small amount onto the tip of your finger. Ideally this will be the finger next to your little finger (less pressure).  Now marry your fingers together so you have an equal amount on each hand. Then gently dab, press and pat into the skin around the eyes. Take it up onto and around the orbital bone and allow the cream to spread and absorb all around the eye area. Paying particular attention to lines around the side and over the eye lid. Don’t use too much, you don’t want to over load the skin with product.

I found this cream absorbed easily and one of the most important factors when using an eye cream, it didn’t make my eyes sting.  That always concerns me when an eye cream makes my eyes sting.  The packaging is gender neutral.  The smell is slight and natural.  The pump is small and convenient to use.
