Zephorium Soul Tonic Citrine Crystal Nourishing Body Lotion

Zephorium Soul Tonic Citrine Crystal Nourishing Body Lotion – 250ml (£25.00)

I’m a big fan of Zephorium and as with their carrot and sweet orange face oil, here’s another winner.  This time we have a body lotion that ticks all the boxes.  Firstly it comes in a heavy, 250ml bright yellow glass bottle, which I love!  It’s not designed or practical to take travelling, but it’s very at home sat on a bedside table, like a piece of modern art.

The easy to use pump delivers lots of product.  The first thing you’ll notice is that the thick, white cream explodes with fragrance. None of your synthetic, sickly, artificial fragrance I hasten to add, this cream is bursting with zesty pink grapefruit oil, citrus lemon and lime essential oils.

Packed with vitamins A, E, natural polyphenols and phytonutrients for soft and silky skin.  The ingredients list is made up of 89% organic ingredients.  The base and main ingredients in the bottle are water, organic sunflower seed oil, organic shea butter and organic cocoa seed butter.  These main ingredients make the perfect combination for skin moisturising and nourishing.

Then we see natural emulsifier glyceryl stearate, cetearyl alcohol and vegetable based glycerin,  Then we find pink grapefruit oil, lemon oil, lime oil, organic olive oil and organic linseed oil.  Emollients (skin softeners) in the form of sucrose stearate and sodium stearoly glutamate (derived from coconut oil), then organic aloe vera powder, coconut derived glucoside, alcohol, natural source vitamin E, natural thickener xantham gum and finally naturally derived lactic acid, dehydroacetic acid and benzyl alcohol.

I’ve found some body creams leave my skin feeling sticky, clammy and generally suffocated.  Arms and legs can still feel tacky an hour after application. This one is quite different.  When you apply the lotion, it absorbs quickly and easily into the skin and keeps you feeling moisturised throughout the day. The zesty lime fragrance disperses within ten minutes or so, not competing with your fragrance of choice.

Suitable for all skin types, use this on dry hands, arms, elbows or anywhere on the body, also great as an aftersun.  A luxurious, sophisticated body cream that comes highly recommended and fully Del Brown Appproved.

Nourish Protect Nutri-Rich Body Cream

Nourish Protect Nutri-Rich Body Cream – 100ml (£14.00)

When researching products to feature on Del Brown Approved, I prefer to deal direct with the person who’s baby it is.  I had the pleasure to meet with Nourish founder Dr Pauline Hili recently.   Her entire range combines certified organic plant extracts with researched bio-actives to achieve results.  So if you’re looking for targeted results from your skincare, this is one brand you should certainly consider.

This Nutri-Rich Body Cream is one of four brand new body creams from Nourish.

The base for this body cream is water, organic aloe vera juice powder, vegetable based glycerin, organic soya oil, organic omega-rich Chilean rosehip oil and moisturising organic shea butter.  Then we see two olive oil based emulsifiers and various synthetic and naturally derived skin absorbers, peptides, preservatives (paraben free) and thickeners.

The combination of these ingredients is designed to stimulate collagen and improve the texture of the skin for a firmer, smoother feel.  Finally, vitamin C rich organic orange peel oil and organic mandarin peel oil.  In total, 85% of the ingredients are soil association certified organic and the entire range is Vegan society approved, so no animal derived ingredients found here.

The body cream is dispensed in an airless pump and has a light cream hue.  If you’re expecting this cream to smell strongly of oranges, you’ll be disappointed.  The aroma is only mildly citrus with hints of rosehip.  The cream quickly absorbs into the skin, leaving it moisturised and looking smooth without feeling sticky or tacky.  Dry elbows, hands and feet in particular love this.  It also works great as an aftersun if your skin is feeling particularly thirsty.

Ingredients: Aqua (water), Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice powder*, Glycerin, Glycine soja (soya) oil*, Rosa canina (rosehip) seed oil*, Vitellaria paradoxa (shea butter sp. nilotica)*, Palmitoyl tripeptide-5, Cetearyl olivate, Sorbitan olivate, Cetearyl glucoside, Algin, Alginic acid, Glyceryl stearate, Cetyl stearyl alcohol, Sodium levulinate, Levulinic acid, Xanthan gum, Kaolin, Sodium hyaluronate, Sodium ascorbyl phosphate, Citrus sinensis (orange) peel oil expressed*, Citrus nobilis (mandarin) peel oil expressed*, Potassium sorbate, Citral, Limonene, Linalool. (Naturally present in essential oils).

*Organic ingredient.

Riad Of Aromas Avocado and Chamomile Body Cream

Riad of Aromas Avocado and Chamomile Softening and Soothing Body Cream – 100ml (£11.50)

I discovered ‘Riad of Aromas’ whilst at the professional beauty show in London earlier this year. Their range of Moroccan inspired products are designed for people with sensitive skin.  Their entire range is made without synthetic chemicals such as parabens, petrochemicals, alcohol, SLS or artificial colours and fragrances.

So to this, my first review from the range and this is their Avocado and Chamomile Softening and Soothing Body Cream, particularly suitable for dry, distressed and sensitive skin. 100% of the ingredients in the pot are from natural origin and is suitable for Vegans.

How about body cream, which incidentally I’ve found works just as well as a hand or foot cream, where the greatest ingredient is water and Avocado oilAvocado oil is naturally high in vitamin E, antioxidants, monounsaturated fatty acids and Sterolin.  Studies have shown Sterolin to facilitate the softening of the skin and reduce the appearance of age spots.

The third ingredient is Apricot oil, moisturising shea butter and Jojoba oil.   Then we find glycerine, cetearyl alcohol and cetearyl glucoside three vegetable based emulsifiers and fatty acids derived from plant oils.  Then we find Chamomile, which has long been renowned for its anti-inflammatory, calming and soothing properties.  Geranium, Lavender oil and natural source vitamin E.  Finally at the end of the ingredients list we see sodium anisate, sodium levulinate, glyceryl oleate, lactic acid, four ingredients I have looked into and have no concern over.

The cream has a non-specific natural aroma and is quick to absorb into the skin leaving it feeling smooth and moisturised.  Unlike some creams, this one doesn’t feel at all sticky or greasy.  Even if you were to over apply and use too much, the cream sinks rapidly into the skin leaving it looking matt, not shiny, primarily thanks to the second biggest ingredient Avocado oil.

Ingredients: aqua, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, prunus armeniaca (apricot) oil, butyrospermum parkii butter, simmondsia chinensis seed oil, glycerine, cetearyl alcohol, cetearyl glucoside, matricaria chamomilla (chamomile) flower extract, pelargonium graveolens oil, lavandula angustifolia oil, tocopherol, sodium anisate, sodium levulinate, glyceryl oleate, lactic acid, Citronellol*, Geraniol*, Linalool*.

*Naturally occurring molecules

Suitable for Vegans. Not tested on animals. Contains nut oil.

Whipped moisturising organic shea butter!

whipped_shea_hand_butter_lav-vitamine_30ml-1 whipped_shea_hand_butter_lav-vitamine_30ml-3

RococoChichi Whipped Shea Butter – 30ml (£3.50)

At first glance you’d be forgiven for overlooking this unassuming little tin. But unscrew the lid and insert a digit into the ‘literally’ whipped shea butter and release the infused aroma of either Lavender or Vanilla, depending on which choice you go for.   We’re not talking supermarket synthetic vanilla or lavender, we’re talking 100% natural essential oils that have been whipped together with 100% natural moisturising shea butter.

I’ve long been a fan of shea butter.  It is sourced from Africa, extracted from the shea nut and it’s fatty oil is rich in vitamins A, D and E. But this is the first time I have found it whipped together with Jojoba oil, Vitamin E and either Lavender or Vanilla oil. The result is a lighter textured, easier to use product, which not only smells good but also has a whole host of applications.

In short, you can use this anywhere and everywhere. Anywhere you have dry or chapped skin. Use it as a lip balm, rub a little onto dry elbows or knees. Use it on dry or cracked heels, rough or peeling skin, sun burn and blemishes. The lavender butter in particular is good rubbed onto insect bites. You can even use it on dry hair and that includes beards. The list is ‘almost’ endless!

The only decision you have to make is are you going for the antiseptic and antifungal properties of lavender oil, or the uplifting mood enhancing properties of natural vanilla.

The raw shea butter they use has been certified organic by the Soil Association and certified Fairtrade by the Fairtrade labeling organization (FLO). All the ingredients are 100% natural and handmade by RococoChichi in London.

Ingredients: Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Seed Oil &Wax), Alpha tocopheryl (Vitamin E), Lavendula angustifolia (Lavender Essential oil)

Simply Bee Men’s Moisturising Lotion – 200ml (£12.80)

Attention my ingredient purist friends among you.  Firstly, ignore the word “Men’s” and concentrate your eyes on ‘moisturising lotion’.

The ingredients in this product from Simply Bee are as minimalist as they come.  100% natural, no preservatives, no colourings, perfumes or synthetics.  Instead we find a mix of water, shea butter, beeswax, propolis, honey and lavender essential oil.  The only additional ingredient in the bottle is Polysorbate 60, which is a vegetable emulsifying wax that helps combine all the ingredients together.

The result is a white coloured, light fluffy textured cream (or lotion) which quickly absorbs into the skin.  Don’t expect to smell lavender, but the strong pleasant honey mix fragrance quickly dispersed when applied onto the skin.

The product is advertised simplybee’s website as a mens moisturisng lotion, but I preferred to use it as an aftersun, hand cream and body lotion.  I took this away with me on holiday and used it all over my body, shoulders and even my head, as a light, non-clogging, pleasant smelling body cream.

Ingredients: AQUA (Aqua), BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII BUTTER (Shea Butter), Vegetable Emulsifying Wax NF (POLYSORBATE 60), CERA ALBA (Beeswax), PROPOLIS CERA (Propolis), MALTODEXTRIN (Honey), LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA OIL (Lavender Essential Oil)
