Whipped moisturising organic shea butter!

RococoChichi Whipped Shea Butter – 30ml (£3.50)

At first glance you’d be forgiven for overlooking this unassuming little tin. But unscrew the lid and insert a digit into the ‘literally’ whipped shea butter and release the infused aroma of either Lavender or Vanilla, depending on which choice you go for.   We’re not talking supermarket synthetic vanilla or lavender, we’re talking 100% natural essential oils that have been whipped together with 100% natural moisturising shea butter.

I’ve long been a fan of shea butter.  It is sourced from Africa, extracted from the shea nut and it’s fatty oil is rich in vitamins A, D and E. But this is the first time I have found it whipped together with Jojoba oil, Vitamin E and either Lavender or Vanilla oil. The result is a lighter textured, easier to use product, which not only smells good but also has a whole host of applications.

In short, you can use this anywhere and everywhere. Anywhere you have dry or chapped skin. Use it as a lip balm, rub a little onto dry elbows or knees. Use it on dry or cracked heels, rough or peeling skin, sun burn and blemishes. The lavender butter in particular is good rubbed onto insect bites. You can even use it on dry hair and that includes beards. The list is ‘almost’ endless!

The only decision you have to make is are you going for the antiseptic and antifungal properties of lavender oil, or the uplifting mood enhancing properties of natural vanilla.

The raw shea butter they use has been certified organic by the Soil Association and certified Fairtrade by the Fairtrade labeling organization (FLO). All the ingredients are 100% natural and handmade by RococoChichi in London.

Ingredients: Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Seed Oil &Wax), Alpha tocopheryl (Vitamin E), Lavendula angustifolia (Lavender Essential oil)

Peppermint sea salt body scrub from Ochre

Ochre Enliven Body Scrub – 400g (£24.00)

I discovered the Ochre Body and Skin range recently and have had the pleasure of trying out their Rosemary and Peppermint Enliven Salt Scrub for the first time.

This tub of sea salt and oils has a strong aroma of peppermint. When you first unscrew the lid, you can see the oils floating on top of the sea salt. Sink your fingers into the thick, gritty mixture and rub a good-sized amount onto either dry or damp skin. Then take the time to gently rub and massage the mixture of oils and salt onto the skin. Concentrate your efforts particularly on dry or rough patches. Don’t neglect the feet! A foot massage using these salts will not only freshen but also ease tired and aching muscles. Without realising it, you’re also giving your hands a treatment too.

While the sea salts are exfoliating and smoothing dead and rough skin, the sweet almond oil and beeswax are intensely hydrating and moisturising.  This weekly ritual is best done whilst stood in the bath or shower, then either rinse off or lower yourself into warm bath water and inhale the zingy peppermint and rosemany essential oils. The lingering results are moisturised, soft and smooth skin.

The ingredients are Sea Salt, Sweet Almond Oil, Beeswax, Silica, Rosemary and Peppermint oil. The most dominating smelling ingredient being the peppermint oil. Think mint Aero!

This is one of the largest sized salt scrubs I’ve reviewed at 400g so is going to last you a good while.

Ingredients: Sodium Chloride (Sea Salt), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Silica, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Limonene.

Olive Oil and Shea Butter Soap from All Natural Soap Co

IMG_0256 IMG_0252Shea Luxury Olive Oil & Shea Butter Soap – 115g (£3.95)

This is my first review from the All Natural Soap Company. London based, hand making bars of soaps using 100% natural and ethically sourced ingredients.  All of their ingredients are cold pressed using no heat, to help preserve the nutrients of the ingredients.

This bar is called ‘Shea Luxury’.  Every one of the ingredients that create this soap are 100% natural. Olive Oil, Water, Coconut Oil (Unrefined), Wild Shea Butter (unrefined), Sunflower Oil, Cocoa Butter (unrefined) and finally Vitamin E oil.

Add water and the bar effortlessly foams with tiny white bubbles. Rinse off to leave the skin feeling clean and comfortable. Looking at the ingredients, this bar could easily be re-labeled as a moisturising 100% natural shaving soap. When combined with a shaving brush, the lather creates an excellent shaving cream. Moistursing with the shea and cocoa butter and blade lubricating with the olive, sunflower and coconut oils.

This bar has no added perfumes and has a natural coconut oil fragrance.  It does not contain any strong essential oils, making it particularly suitable for sensitive skins.  Especially good if you find shower gels and soaps causes your skin to become dry or irritated.  I’ve been using this for the past few weeks to both wash and shave with and have quickly become a huge fan!

Ingredients: Sodium Olivate (olive oil), Aqua (water), Sodium Cocoate (coconut oil), Butyrospermum Parkii Butter (unrefined, wild shea butter), Helianthus Annus Seed Oil (sunflower oil), Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter (unrefined cocoa butter)Tocopherol (vitamin E oil)
